Hisako was born in Nagoya, Japan and got her early education in Japan. She has lived with a cat or cats all her life. Her first pedigree cat was a Siamese female and it introduced her to the cat world.

Hisako became a TICA judge in 1983 and was recently appointed a Ring and School Instructor. She has bred British Shorthairs since 1991 and is a member of the British Breed Group Committee within TICA.

Hisako has judged for TICA both in the US and internationally – she has judged in Australia, Austria, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, UK, France, Hungary and Japan.

Hisako is a member of several TICA cat clubs, including All Japan Cat Cub (Nagoya, Japan), Edmonton Cat Fanciers (Edmonton, Canada), The Enchanted Cat Club (Albuquerque, New Mexico), Great Lakes Area Cat Enthusiasts, Inc. (South Bend, Indiana) and Glass CiTICAts in Whitehouse, Ohio.

Hisako played an active part in promoting in Japan the 2007 TICA Annual (hosted by her home club), resulting in approximately 20 Japanese exhibitors attending.

Hisako has lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico since 1991 and outside the cat fancy runs her own consulting firm H Yamada and Associates supporting Japanese/US business relationships.
